“Cure for Pain: The Mark Sandman Story” – Jun 24th

Join the Boston Sunday Night Film Club this Sunday, Jun 24th at 7:30p for Cure for Pain: The Mark Sandman Story at the Brattle Theatre . Look for Sean wearing a nametag in the theatre lobby about 15 minutes before the film. As always, after the film we will descend on a local establishment for dinner/drinks/discussion.

On July 3, 1999, Mark Sandman, the charismatic frontman of the alternative band Morphine, sadly passed away while performing at a festival in Italy. His death left a huge, unmendable hole in the Boston music scene and a slew of fans around the world wondering what could have been had he stayed with us just a little longer. Now, filmmakers Robert Bralver and David Ferino have created an engaging documentary about this immensely creative and immensely private person. Featuring interviews with other altmusic stars as well as Sandmans former bandmates, friends and family, CURE FOR PAIN reveals an intense, driven individual who kept the truth about his inner demons away from everyone choosing instead to channel his experiences into poetic, cryptic lyrics and soaring, poignant songwriting.
