Join the Boston Sunday Night Film Club this Sunday, Jan 27th at 7:30p for A Liar’s Autobiography at the Brattle Theatre . Look for Dan wearing a multicolored shirt in the theatre lobby about 15 minutes before the film. As always, after the film we will descend on a local establishment for dinner/drinks/discussion.
A LIAR?S AUTOBIOGRAPHY tells the story of Graham Chapman not with the usual talking heads and film clips but with an insane variety of animation techniques instead. Directors Bill Jones (son of Python Terry), Jeff Simpson, and Ben Timlett have edited together recordings of Chapman made before his death in 1989 alongside new recordings by several of his Python colleagues (minus Eric Idle) and created an episodic, probably-mostly-true account of Chapman?s life ? from his unhappy childhood, to his days in medical school, his bouts of serious alcoholism, his life as a libertine and openly gay man and, of course, his time with one of the most famous and influential comedy troupes of all time: Monty Python.
