“It Started As A Joke (Director Julie Smith & Eugene Mirman in Person!)” – Oct 20th

Join the Boston Sunday Night Film Club this Sunday, Oct 20th at 7p for It Started As A Joke (Director Julie Smith & Eugene Mirman in Person!) at the Brattle Theatre. Look for Sean wearing a nametag in the theatre lobby about 15 minutes before the film. As always, after the film we will descend on a local establishment for dinner/drinks/discussion.

IT STARTED AS A JOKE is a feature documentary that chronicles the decade-long run of the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival – including a final farewell show. The film celebrates Eugene’s unique brand of humor and his role in the alternative comedy movement, offers a bittersweet goodbye to an era, and reminds us of the healing properties of comedy – even in the most challenging of life’s circumstances. The film includes interviews with and performances by some of today’s most hilarious and engaging comedians.

As one of the venues for the long-lost Boston editions of the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival, The Brattle is excited to host this Cambridge premiere screening with special guests in person!

Note: The filmmakers will be in person for this screening so you may wish to purchase tickets in advance!
